Nutraceuticals: Antioxidants

It is now widely recognised that antioxidants play a significant role in the quenching of the free radicals, which can give rise to disease situations. During any stressful situation, which people and more especially athletes can encounter, the antioxidant levels will be depleted giving rise to the possibility of disease.

The availability of antioxidants to quench free radicals within the body are all major factors of importance; maintaining their levels is of utmost importance. Apart from the necessity of having the correct ratio of water and fat-soluble antioxidants present, it is also deemed prudent to have background sacrificial antioxidant present which can be mopped up in preference to vitamin E and vitamin C.

Specialist herbals or oils can fulfil these requirements and play a significant part in maintaining good health status.
