Exertional rhabdomyolysis syndrome is a muscle disorder resulting in elevated serum levels of muscle enzymes, stiffness, loss of performance and lameness in the equine athlete. Commonly known as 'Tying up', this syndrome affects a significant number of racehorses often meaning that they never fulfil their potential. In researching this new supplement possible causes of this condition were investigated and natural solutions researched to address them. Symptoms of 'Tying up' can also exasperate the condition so other nutraceuticals have been included to relieve them. This supplement has been designed as a feed supplement for horses prone to 'Tying Up'. A variety of herbs, plant extracts and supplements have been selected which may play a role in preventing the severity of this syndrome. However, management of the horse and it's training are as important as nutrition and should not be overlooked when trying to prevent this condition. |
